Vaccine rolls out
MASS coronavirus vaccination clinics opened this week to people 50 and over as the State Government urges people to roll up their sleeves for WA.
The State made its clinic near Perth Airport and at Claremont Showground open to the over-50 age group to receive the AstraZeneca vaccination from Monday.
The clinics will operate seven days per week, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. People are able to book in via 13 COVID (13 26843).
The ‘Roll up for WA’ campaign is aimed at getting as many West Australians vaccinated as soon as possible.
Premier Mark McGowan said it was vital people were vaccinated when it was their turn.
“The vaccine is here,” he said. “It’s been tested and certified, and is another protection measure we can add to our armour.”
Health Minister Roger Cook said people could not be complacent.
“We are so lucky to have access to the COVID-19 vaccination before this virus has taken hold with the devastating effects we have seen overseas.”
Participating GP clinics can start administering the vaccine for people 50 and over from May 17.
