SARA Pomare is preparing to take the plunge and face her fear this week.

The 32-year-old from Kallaroo will snorkel with the sharks at AQWA to raise money for HeartKids as part of Super Boss Day tomorrow.

Ms Pomare said she was “very excited and privileged” to be part of the fundraising campaign that encourages people to dress up as a super hero for the day to support Australian kids and their families affected by congenital and childhood heart disease.

“Except I will be trading in your normal superhero costume for a superhero wetsuit costume as I have been given a challenge to snorkel with sharks and raise $3000 for HeartKids,” the mum-of-two said.

“This campaign is very close to my heart as I was born with congenital heart disease and at the age of 16 months, I underwent open heart surgery to repair several defects.

“Surgery went well and I grew up living a healthy childhood.

“But when I was 24 and 27, I suffered from heart failure induced by pregnancy; the overload was just too much for my heart.

“I am very blessed to be here today with a clean bill of health and with two beautiful sons, so now it’s my time to give back to an amazing foundation.”

Ms Pomare said while she was excited for the challenge, she was also “extremely nervous”. To donate, go to bit.ly/2l0AjAj.
