Teaching a ‘team effort’
CARINE High School principal Damien Shuttleworth is WA’s Secondary Principal of the Year.
It was a big morning for last year’s WA Secondary School of the Year, with science teacher Daniel Hugo also named WA Premier’s Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Mr Shuttleworth, who became the school’s fourth principal in nearly 50 years when he joined in 2014, said the win felt very rewarding.
“Individuals don’t win awards, communities do,” he said.
Head of science Mr Hugo agreed it was a team effort.
“Teaching is such a privilege and to be acknowledged like this is fantastic,” he said.
