Investigation of crash continues
POLICE are still investigating Sunday’s head-on crash on Indian Ocean Drive north of Lancelin in which three men died.
The 3.20pm crash involved a Toyota Hilux travelling north, a Toyota minibus travelling south and a Toyota Landcruiser towing a camper trailer, also travelling south.
A police spokeswoman said the Hilux crossed the centre double white lines, initially clipping the trailer, which turned the trailer on its roof but caused no damage or injuries.
The Hilux then continued north in the southbound lane, where the front wheel dislodged from the axle and the Hilux collided head-on with the minibus.
A 66-year-old man driving the Hilux died, as did two men in their 50s on the minibus, which was carrying Chinese tourists.
Four bus occupants – a man (38) and three women (one aged 51 and two 23) – were taken to hospitals with serious injuries, while five others on the bus, including the driver from WA, were treated at hospitals for minor injuries.
