Rain wreaks havoc

-

Rain wreaked havoc in Warragul and District Cricket at the weekend with most matches washed out on Saturday.

While some play was possible on Saturday, most matches were washed out without a ball being bowled.

Matches in divisions four, five and six were unable to commence, along with all under 16 matches in the juniors.

All under 16 matches will be played as Twenty/20 fixtures next week.

Hallora beat the rain to defeat Ellinbank in a rain affected first grade match.

The Bankers managed 7/90 from 28 overs with Hallora chasing the target down in the 23rd over.

All other first grade matches on Saturday were washed out.

Drouin accounted for Jindivick in a rain reduced division two match.

In a high-scoring affair, Drouin posted 6/177 before restricitng the Jumping Jacks to 8/133.

All other division two matches were washed out.

Western Park defeated Ellinbank in division three, the only match to garner a result.

Three matches commenced in the under 14s, with the remaining matches to be played as Twenty/20 matches next week.

Sunday proved to be a better day for cricket, with division one and division two playing a catch-up round due to the late start to the season.

Hallora’s first division team capped a successful weekend, beating the rain to secure two wins from two matches.

Play commenced in other matches before heavy rain late in the day saw more washouts.

Hallora, Drouin and Western Park each completed victories in second grade, while Longwarry was well placed in its match against Warragul before the rain came.
