Disgusted

- Bobbie Lee Sedgman Ripplebrook

On November 3, at about 10.45pm my car broke down as I almost made it out of the Waterford Rise roundabout heading to Drouin after work.

Not only was I broken down in the most inconvenient place, cars were forced to drive onto the middle kerb to get around me.

As a 19-year-old woman I had no idea what was wrong. While waiting for my parents to come to the rescue, I saw a police car approaching the roundabout and was sure they would stop to check I was okay, (at that point only one passerby had actually stopped to see if everything was allright).

Much to my disgust and disappointment, the police vehicle carefully drove over the kerb, and was on its way to wherever they were headed.

No means of stopping, asking if I was okay, see- ing if they could help or just plain what on earth I was doing in the middle of the road with my hazards on. No sign of care at all.

I have never been so infuriated and disgusted with our so called “emergency services”.

The enormous lack of care was disappointing to witness, especially from the police officers of the Gippsland community. How can we possibly count on the ones that claim to be there in times of need when either just because I’m a p-plater or whether they had more important places to be, can’t even simply pull over to a broken down car at 11pm at night to ask if they’re okay.

They should be nothing but ashamed.
