Big spring clean in Yarragon

-

The Yarragon township have undertaken some spring cleaning, with members of the general public able to take advantage of the many bargains on offer at Howard Park on Saturday between 8.30am and 1pm.

As part of a major fundraiser for Yarragon Primary School and Early Learning Centre, the Yarragon Big Spring Clean will include a garage sale trail and car boot sale, while there will be jumping castles and face painting to keep the children entertained.

Yarragon Primary School Parent’s Club representative Sue van Hout said a number of businesses are getting involved by offering discounts, specials and promotions through the day for all shoppers.

“As an added incentive, some businesses will be involved in a Friday night shopping spree for registered shoppers,” she said.

“This will allow these spree shoppers the opportunity to be the first to access the exclusive discounted and special items on a guided spree, prior to them being offered to the public on Saturday.”

The night will be a ticketed event, with groups of up to 10 people progressing from one shop to the next with a specified time limit at each shop.

Shopping starts at 6pm with groups meeting at the Yarragon Hotel from 5pm.

Shopping spree tickets cost $15.

A number of participating businesses are featured on the Yarragon Spring Clean Facebook page.

Mrs van Hout said organisers hoped the event would attract many people from out of town, including those passing through from Summit Survivor.

“We’re trying to support those in the community who support us, so we lleft it to the local business group to decide on the date,” she said.

“Last year we had the market down at Dowton Park and that was good.

“But the business owners said it was a bit out of the way and they didn’t get the flow on effect, so this year we’re right in the heart of town.”

The school will also run a car boot stall, with several local businesses making donations.

At time of going to print 18 garage sales had been registered for the Garage Sale Trail, with maps available from the Public Hall in Campbell St from 7.55am.

“We ask for a gold coin donation, it’s all money for the school,” Mrs van Hout said.

The car boot sale will take place in the car park off Hanns Lane, adjacent to Howard Park from 8.30am.

“There will be bargains and amazing pre-Christmas deals available to all on the day, so we would love to welcome one and all to our beautiful town for a fabulous day,” Mrs van Hout said.

“All proceeds from event registrations and trail maps will go directly to the Yarragon Primary School so please come along, grab a bargain and support our school and our community.”
