South East Podiatry’s new PACT Therapy – can it help you?

-

Caused by an infective organism called dermatophytes, fungal nail infections of the toe nails are often considered ugly, and in certain circumstances can spread to other nails.

Over 1.6 million Australians suffer from fungal nail every year, however many do not seek the appropriate therapy to cure the fungal nail infection.

To date, the most common fungal nail treatment is painting on fungal nail paint from the pharmacy. This is typically ineffective for more involving infections. Oral medications can also be taken, however they can cause side effects that are often very uncomfortable and the typical course is 6-12 months. And lastly there is laser therapy, a method of using heat to destroy the nail fungus. This can also destroy healthy tissue if not applied correctly and is an expensive treatment therapy. It also cannot be used on everyone.

Now there is a safer and more effective treatment, PACT Therapy. Owner of South East Podiatry, Dr Matthew Keating says “pact nail fungus treatment uses the latest developments in chemical therapies. We have introduced pact to our clinics as an effective and economical solution for patients suffering with fungal nails.”

PACT works when a specific biochemical gel is applied to the infected toe nail, and using a specially designed light apparatus the gel targets only the fungal elements without destroying healthy nail!

The nail is firstly prepared by the podiatrist through physical reduction, or combined physical/chemical reduction depending on the severity of the infection.
