Dance the night away

-

Dress to impress and dance the night away when the reinvigorated Longwarry Ball returns to the Longwarry Hall on Friday.

The ball made its return last year after a 15 year absence and proved a success with about 130 people attending.

Spokesperson Deb McAteer, who is amongst a group organising the event on behalf of the Longwarry Dance Group, said it was a chance for people to return to the dances or introduce newcomers. This year’s ball will feature live music by “The Silhouettes”.

“I expect it will be bigger than last year,” said Ms McAteer. “We’re looking forward to a good night.”

Ms McAteer said the Longwarry Dance Group hold dances every Monday as well as the fourth Saturday of each month at the Longwarry Hall. They also held regular balls until the 15-year break.

It is a way to encourage people who don’t attend the weekly or monthly dances for reasons such as the loss of a partner to join in dancing again.

Dance group members from various locations including Grantville, Nar Nar Goon and Nilma are expected to attend.

The annual Longwarry Ball will run from 8pm to midnight with entry just $10 per person.

While ball gowns aren’t required, dress up and bring a plate to share.
