Tickets closing for conference
A day of workshops, presentations and networking opportunities followed by a dinner will inspire, empower and celebrate Gippsland women on Wednesday, November 25.
Ticket sales for the inaugural Connecting Women Across Gippsland conference at Lardner Park close tomorrow (Wednesday).
The conference coincides with White Ribbon Day to raise awareness of the campaign to end men’s violence against women. The event also supports the “Make the Link” campaign of Gippsland Women’s Health, which promotes gender equality as key to preventing this violence.
Journalist Tracey Spicer will MC the conference and give a keynote speech titled “Claiming our Share of the Sandpit”.
Xstrata Coal’s Glendell mine manager Liz Watts, winner of the NSW Women in Mining Outstanding Women Award, will also present a keynote address titled “The Diversity Imperative”.
Local women from a range of backgrounds and professions will share their stories in short and powerful visual presentations.
The conference will also feature a community market with a variety of goods and services on display.
Keynote speaker at the dinner event is Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Lucinda Nolan who will talk about gender inequality in the police force. She will be followed by comedian, presenter and author Gretel Killeen.
Tickets are $150 for the conference and dinner, $100 for the conference only or $70 for the dinner only.
