Warragul in good touch

Warragul Bowling Club had a good day in round four of WGBD pennant on Saturday with three teams winning and two losing.

A seven-shot victory over Neerim District saw Warragul go to outright second on the division one ladder.

Division 1: Warragul 18/80 defeated Neerim District 2/73

John Vickerman, Graeme Davis, Necip Akarsu and Gary Johnson lost to Angus McGillivray’s team 16/23. Terry Sullivan, David Alderman, Peter Gallasch and Clive Padgham defeated Greg King’s team 23/16. Ian Belling, Janette Gallasch, Steve Pallot and Matt Schreyer defeated Peter Throup’s team 21/17. Laurie Innes, Norm Dickson, Paul Simmons and Glenn Lockett defeated Shane Hogan’s team 20/17.

Division 3: Warragul (2) 18/111 defeated Warragul (3) 2/91

Kerrie Currie, Brian Barby, Roy Hammond and David Smith defeated David Piggin, Alison Matthews, Keith Wilkins and Alan Potter 30/17. Ken May, Bob Currie, Ken Brown and Alan McDonnell defeated David Anderson, Linda McCoy, Graham Cobban and Fred Pitcher 24/22. Des Stephens, Kevin Campbell, Jack Lee and Bill Clappers defeated Ed Davies, Pat Hammond, Elsie Hefford and Ken Taylor 35/15. Geoff Woods, Matt Draisma, Shirley Melsen and Eric Porter lost to Ted Holland, Gabrielle Draisma, Ken Landman and Ray Watson 22/37.

Division 5: Warragul (4) 0/53 lost to Morwell 16/90

Andy Petrie, Michael Royce, Mike Cousens and Tony Peters lost to P. Bramley’s team 15/31. Glenda Collins, Gilly Ross, Vin Roche, Len Duncan lost to D. Bailey’s team 15/30. Flynn Pallot, Wilf Boscombe, Brian Kennedy, Trevor Crofts lost to L. Gurney’s team 23/29.

Division 6 West: Warragul (5) 8/50 defeated Garfield 2/46

May Baldwin, June Gnaden, Stella Gedye and Alison Matthews defeated J. Polkington’s team 31/21. Gary Stewart, Marj Evison, Marg Keeffe, Chris Wilkins lost to M. Lamport’s team 19/25.

Singles championships

The two men’s championship semi-finals will be played this week.

Terry Sullivan will play Peter Gallasch tomorrow at 2pm while Graeme Davis will play Matt Schreyer on Friday at 3pm.

In the semi-finals of the women’s championship singles, Edna Adams defeated Freda Lay and Kerrie Currie defeated Gabrielle Draisma. Edna and Kerrie will play the final at 10am on Wednesday November 25.

In the semi-finals of the club B grade singles championship on Sunday, Geoff Woods defeated Eric Porter 26/24 and Matt Draisma defeated Fred Pitcher 25/22.

Necip Akarsu looks poised in a close division one game between Warragul and Neerim District.

Neerim District’s Gerry Melling is the focus of all eyes in the division one match against Warragul. Neerim won this match but it was Warragul’s day overall.
