Women’s

Trafalgar women played the second round of the club championsh­ips on Wednesday.

The winner of A grade was Karen MacGregor with 85-20-65, while Cheryl Toyne won B grade with 9626-70.

Nearest the pin on the fifth went to Sue Tabuteau and Aileen McNair was nearest on the 13th.

Tomorrow is the third and final round with match and play starting and checking. not seen since Harry Matthews carved up the field a few years ago.

Another competitio­n day and another eagle, this time scored by Damian Needham on the par four fifth hole awarding him eight balls for his effort.

On Thursday a field of 50 had a game with the consistent Trevor Male taking the honours in the first division with a score of 39 points on a count back from Trevor Franklin and Wally O’Hara.

A further five golfers scored 38 points in the first division preventing the handicappe­r from trying to work out the results.

Graeme Martin took victory in the second division with a great round of 41 points, just one point clear of three other scores of 40 points.

The effervesce­nt Simon Taylor continued his great Thursday form after a long layoff by scoring 38 points.

On Thursday evening a big field of 47 played in the twilight event, with hard working captain Marty Atkins shooting the lights out with a score of 24 points for the nine holes, two points clear of the next best.

Garfield Golf Club reminds it women of its West Gippsland event scheduled for Monday, November 23.

There are 27 hole and 18-hole events, and the club we would like as many members there on the day to assist and welcome everybody for what is expected to be a great day.

The presentati­on day is on the next day at Sue Stansfield’s home, and all women are requested to bring along a $5 Christmas present and a plate of sweets as well as their swimming attire. Women’s

The final round of the women’s club championsh­ips and the Nancy Pattinson Trophy was played on Wednesday in conditions that were certainly not conducive to terrific golf.

It was very windy and overcast, however some women were still able to record good scores.

The 2015/16 women’s champion is Kerri Ahearn with a gross total of 263. Runners up were Debbie Corstorphi­n with 267 and Irene Thomas with 272.

The bronze division one champion is Shirley Todd with 279, runners up were Judith Shearman with 298 followed by Kay Thompson with 298.

Bronze division two champion is Cheryl Trickett with 331, runners up were Marie Cumming with 340 and Molly Answerth 343.

The Nancy Pattinson Trophy winners are:

A grade: Shirley Todd (19) 222 nett, Kerry Ahearn (11) 230 nett, Debbie Corstorphi­n (12) 231nett; B grade: Joan Nelson (29) 225 nett, Molly Answerth (36) 235 nett, Kaye Rollinson (27) 237nett. Nearest the Pins were won by Kylie Golding on the seventh, Joy Marriott 15th, Helen Coghlan18t­h and the pro pin for $25 was won by Joy Marriott.

The nine-hole competitio­n had 14 women play and the winner was Heather Reeves with 17 points.

Balls went to Cecilia Stewart 15, Eileen Hill 13 and Glynnis Mitchell 12.
