Eda continues good form
Having returned from playing in the Horsham Golf Croquet tournament, Eda Menzies continued on with her good form to help Drouin defeat Leongatha in round 12 of Gippsland golf croquet.
Eda won both of her singles matches at Leongatha on the way to a tight four hoop win to Drouin.
Drouin managed to hold the lead by just four hoops following the singles rounds.
Both clubs anticipated the doubles matches would also be closely contested, and player combinations were going to be critical to the outcome on the day.
The first round of doubles went to Drouin, yet again with scores of 7/6, which indicated the evenness of the pairings.
Drouin disappointingly lost the next two doubles matches, while the Menzies combination of Hamish and Eda went down in their final game of the day.
Their losing score was brilliantly covered when Bullen and Fry won the last game 7/1.
Winners of the club’s special effort at its recent sausage sizzle were J Price, B Mitchell and M Crook. The club thanked all who supported the event.
Warragul’s pennant team travelled over to Phillip Island to battle it out.
The day started off evenly matched with both sides winning four each of the singles games, and both with a total of 46 hoops each.
But it was different in the doubles with Phillip Island winning four of the six games, coming out clear winners.
Sue Elliott had a great day, winning four of her five games. Warragul play at Traralgon today. Results: Drouin seven games, 83 hoops defeated Leongatha seven games, 79 hoops.
