- By Sam Laffy Hallora (6-111) vs. Yarragon (71)

A staggering bowling display from Ryan Williams has enabled Hallora to already claim first-innings point in their match with Yarragon, making the most of some helpful bowling conditions.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, the Panthers’ opening combination of Jake Borsato and Ash Smith made an aggressive start, with Hugo Whitlock and Caleb Serong both being hit to the fence.

However the Kangaroos quicks soon had their revenge, with a flurry of wickets soon handing the advantage to Hallora.

Most importantly, Whitlock was able to claim the prized wicket of Gamini Kumara for just two, the batting superstar for once tamed.

Ryan Williams then took his turn with the red pill and enjoyed complete domination over the Yarragon middle and lower order.

Attacking the stumps at every opportunity, the all-round claimed the incredible figures of 6-9 from 15.3 overs, the spell one of the best seen in the Warragul District Cricket Association in recent years.

His efforts helped bundle Yarragon out for 71, and with 42 overs left to bat Hallora made their way through to 6111, with Fraser Duncan’s patient 44 not out belying the lack of runs from his partners.

Brutal Buln assault

Buln (4-185) vs. Neerim District (84) With their top of the table rivals Hallora in dominant form, Buln Buln launched a brutal onslaught of their own against Neerim District.

Holding a 111-run advantage after day one of proceedings, Buln are odds-on favourites to claim an outright win next weekend.

Sending their opponents in, a truly astonishing collapse of 6-1 left Neerim in disarray as Dane Fawcett (2-17), Bryce Monahan (3-10) and Ryan Bishop (3-14) were unstoppable.

At 7-26 Neerim were on the verge of being completely embarrassed, but thankfully for them Jack Ward and Ben Lockett added 39 for the ninth wicket to push the score to 84.

High on confidence after their bowling performance, Buln then put the foot on the throats of Neerim with Corey Jagoe (44) and Jack Armour (42)
