Stamp and coin fair

-

The Warragul stamp and coin fair is set to attract hundreds of dealers, collectors and visitors when it is held at the Exhibition Hall at Howitt Street Warragul on Saturday.

Held for more than 40 years, Warragul Philatelic Society public relations officer Max Norman said the fair offered opportunities to buy, sell or swap stamps, coins, postcards, militaria and swap cards.

“We have had solid interest from sellers and tables for dealers have been well sought after,” he said.

“We will also be able to have some catering facilities this year due to the success last year making this venue more convenient for both buyer’s and seller’s alike.”

He said last year’s fair attracted “about three to four hundred people”.

This year’s event will run from 9am to 4pm with free admission, and features dealer’s from Melbourne, Gippsland and many other Victorian locations.

The major fund raising raffle, which will be drawn on the day with winners notified, will have tickets on sale at the door.

Mr Norman said the fair regularly attracts visitors who have found an old album and wish to have it valued. He said Warragul Philatelic Society can assist or send the person onto dealers.

“Junior members are very well catered for as well and encouraged to take up the hobby and we offer a free stamp show bag for as long as they last to promote stamp collecting,” Mr Norman said.

The society meets at Warragul North Primary School on the second Friday of every month at 7.30pm.
