New board member for Gippsland committee
West Gippsland’s representation on the board of the Committee for Gippsland has been boosted with the appointment of a businessman and farmer from Neerim South.
Established five years ago, the Committee for Gippsland is an independent organisation which provides peak body representation for industry and communities across the Gippsland region.
As the leading Gippsland business and industry advocacy group, the Committee is focussed on engaging with government, industry and communities to achieve a sustainable and prosperous future for Gippsland.
New board member Sean Dignum has two key professional roles: as principal of SDA Strategic, a Melbourne based public affairs and communication consultancy, and as owner of Gippsland Farmgate, an award winning dairy in Neerim South.
“I’m proud of my home town of Neerim South, which I think is the best place to live in Australia, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to more broadly contribute to the future of Gipppsland” said Sean.
“Gippsland is attracting increasing attention as a growth area in one of Australia’s most attractive and liveable regions. This provides both opportunity and risks for the people of Gippsland and it’s important to have a say in facilitating sustainable development. The Committee for Gippsland provides that avenue in a very effective way” said Sean.
With extensive experience in issues management, Sean has undertaken advisory projects across construction and infrastructure, oil and gas, renewable energy, health care, food manufacturing, finance and insurance, as well as for government.
Currently, he is a board member of Neerim District Health Service, chairman of Baw Shire Council’s environment voice advisory committee and president of Neerim District Landcare. He is also a former director of Latrobe Regional Hospital board and several committees and boards in Melbourne.
Sean’s farm in Neerim South breeds Jerseys and his goal is to create a unique and top quality dairy herd in Australia using Jersey genetics from overseas.
Other new appointments to the Committee for Gippsland Board include David Mawer, managing director of Gippsland Water and Rochelle Wriggleworth, director of DMG Audit and Advisory.
