Wish list walk in Trafalgar
Trafalgar residents expressed their views and desires for the central business district as Baw Baw Shire Council begins work to establish an Urban Design Framework for the town.
Hansen Partnership associate Jane Keddie said the framework aimed to establish how the town should look and feel, taking into account a wide range of factors including height of buildings and tree planting.
"This will allow Council to refer back to the framework when considering planning applications," she said.
"We've already conducted an analysis of the town centre, but it's equally important to seek community feedback and this is the first stage of input, what are the issues and what would you like to see.
"It's a prioritisation of the issues and developing a framework, which will be drafted and released for community comment."
Among the issues discussed were a lack of footpaths in some areas, parking, seating and identification of the Fowlers' Shed site for potential further development.
Urban Design Frameworks will also be established for Longwarry and Neerim South.
Townships of Longwarry, Neerim South, Labertouche and Jindivick will develop community plans, which will focus on what the community's vision is for the future of the town and how to get there.
Neerim South will also develop a Local Emergency Action Plan as part of its community plan development.
Alongside the urban design frameworks and community plans, Council is also undertaking a Shire wide rural land use review.
Broadly, the review will look at housing options in rural areas, subdivisions and lot sizes, and also include discussions on external factors such as intensive farming and the effects of climate change.
