-

Garfield signalled its return to form with a big win over Ellinbank, 23-21 (159) to 4-6 (30).

The Stars kicked seven goals to two in the first term and were never headed, adding four majors in each the second and third terms to push the lead out to 89 points.

The Stars went on with it in the final term, booting eight goals to blow the margin out beyond three figures and add some much-needed percentage.

The win sees the Stars sit outside the top six on percentage.

Jonathan Sauze and Dylan Collis led the way in front of goal with five majors apiece, while Will Collis chipped in with four goals in a best afield performance.

Eddie Morris, Tyson Payne and coach Joel Morgan were other key players for the Stars.

Ellinbank were best served by Neale Parke, Toby Wallace, Chris Gardiner, Tyler Hotchkin, Ashley Wallace and James Scammell.

Bankers in tight one

Ellinbank continued its good form in the Reserves, winning a tight contest 7-8 (50) to 5-8 (38).

The Bankers set up their win with a solid first half, heading into half time with a 21 point lead and keeping the Stars at bay.

Jay Engellener, Tim Hatherall, Jason Bailey, Tyler Hobson and Ray Smith were instrumental in closing the gap for the Stars.

Scammell’s eight

Eight goals from James Scammell helped Ellinbank to victory in the under 18s, 10-2 (62) to 8-5 (53).

Garfield persisted throughout and were always in the hunt, but Scammell proved the difference with eight of his team’s 10 goals.

He was ably supported by Daniel Harlow, Jye Kahan, Adam Feltham, Cameron Lyon and Corey Peterson.

Damion Denysenko, Jonty Bow, Ryan Archer, Jackson Tribuzi, Mitchell Tribuzi and Aaron Tynan willed Garfield until the very end.
