Bombers hold spot in six

Nilma-Darnum held its spot in the Ellinbank District football top six with a comfortabl­e win over Nyora, 13-10 (88) to 6-5 (41).

The Saints, who sit four points outside the top six, continue to show improvemen­t but the Bombers themselves are aiming for finals and proved too strong.

The Bombers kicked four goals to one in the first term to open up an early lead, which it gradually increased to 44 points at the final change after restrictin­g the Saints to 3-4.

The Saints matched it with the Bombers in the final term, with each side booting three goals with the sting out of the contest.

Harley Parker and Ben Campbell each kicked three goals for the Bombers.

Nicholas Murray and Luke Bartlett were strong in defence, while Travis Dyke, Nathan Campbell, Thomas Campbell and Josh Wilcox gave the Bombers plenty of drive.

Jesse and Dylan Heylen were the best for the Saints, followed by Daniel and Tim Burns, Jason Quinton and Robert Malberg.

Bombers hold Saints

Nilma-Darnum held off a fast finishing Nyora to win the Reserves, 12-7 (79) to 9-6 (60).

The Bombers kicked seven goals to one in the first half to take a handy lead into half time. But the Saints lifted in the second half, booting seven goals to five to put some respectabi­lity back into the score.

Dylan Harkin led the fight back for Nyora, booting six goals. James Harkess, Jacob Zwiersen, Jack Watson, Jack Fowles and Gavin Hackett supported him.

Jack Jarred kicked three goals to be among Nilma-Darnum’s best. Other better players were Robert Campbell, Trent Hughes, Chris Ostojic, Michael Buzasi and Jack Sugars.
