Tigers cause upset

-

Lang Lang caused the upset of the round with victory over Catani, 12-14 (86) to 9-7 (61).

The Blues have been a tougher proposition at their home ground in recent times, but it was the Tigers who finished stronger to record their first win of the season.

Lang Lang edged out to a 12 point lead at quarter time, only for the Blues to hit back with five goals of their own in the second term to take a six point lead into the main break.

The Tigers restricted the Blues to just two behinds in a torrid third term and continued that momentum as what had been a free-flowing affair in the first half tightened up.

Cailem Jenkins kicked three goals for Lang Lang, with Sean Dwyer, Chris Potrich, Felix Dunn, Oliver Dunn and Jack Brickwood also helping the Tigers to victory.

John Alexander, Nathaniel Rodda, Thomas Van Diemen, Antonio Benvenuto, Josh Brown and James Williams were the major ball winners for Catani.

Blues hold on

Catani held out a fast finishing Lang Lang to win by just six points in the Reserves, 10-7 (67) to 9-7 (61).

The Blues led for the majority of the contest, stretching the lead out to 19 points at the final change.

Lang Lang finished strongly, but left their run a little too late.

Vaughn Campbell, Paul Alger, Ryan Williams, Matthew Kennelly, Josh Miller and Dustin Peebles helped Catani hold on.

Jyi Kerford kicked three goals as the Tigers came charging home.

Other prominent players were Adam Baxter, Anthony Meyer, Gavin O’Hayon, Paul Stow and Caleb Boswell.

Blues take points

Catani took the points in the under 18s, but could have inflicted more damage had it not been for inaccurate kicking.

The Tigers were right in the contest until the very end, eventually going down 6-15 (51) to 5-5 (35).

Catani listed James Williams, Riley McDonald, Trent Adams, Mitchell Hovenbitzer, Ethyn Miller and Nathan Lineham as its best players.

Trent Harvie, David Miller, Eden Shepherd, Max de Longville and Daniel Makepeace were the better players for Lang Lang.
