Garfield

With the change of seasons now upon us the scores being recorded are reflective of this time of the year.

Just playing to your handicap is certainly proving to be a task, which was the pattern on Saturday as a field of some 80 players teed it up for a single stable ford event.

Best in for A grade with a score of 36 points was Peter Medwin playing off his mark of nine.

Paul Kaye went one point better to win B grade, while Drouin visitor K.Mealia took out the C grade event with a score of just 32 points.

Just another two golfers were able to play to their handicap of 36 points while a score of 34 points was required to get a ball down the line.

Daniel Schmidt scored two nearest the pins, being both the 8th and 11th holes.

Thursday’s single stable ford event was all but washed out; however six hardy souls (some may use an alternative description) soldiered on for their golfing fix.

Peter Marquis went back to back for consecutive Thursday’s by scoring 31 points to claim victory.

The 4BBB par championship quarter finals were played with two very tight results indeed. Imre Nagy and Rod Norton defeated Don Smith and Dave Lawler on the 19th hole, while Russell Keay and Geoff Turner claimed a big scalp by defeating Gus McKillop and Russ Loughridge on the 18th hole.

Mick Matthews and Craig Hunter had a big win by defeating Peter King and George Gray four and three. The last quarter final was a walk over victory to Damian Needham and Chris Davies.
