Hawks post big total Division 5

- By Adam Johnson

Drouin 6/353 (cc) vs. Longwarry Clint Osseweyer has led Drouin to a big total with a beautifully crafted 97.

Opening the batting, Osseweyer anchored the innings and was unlucky not to make the ton.

He and Kym Osseweyer (46) set the tone for the afternoon with a 108-run partnership.

Lochie Downie (54) and Jayden Bibby (51 not out) were able to score freely late in the day as the Hawks set a required run rate of just under six an over.

It was a luckless day for the bowlers with only Matthew Russell able to break with two wickets.

This is a key game for both sides with the chance of finishing second up for grabs.

Chasing big targets is never easy so Drouin have the edge here with runs on the board.

Battle for top spot

Warragul 8/276 (cc) vs. Jindivick Warragul are well placed in the battle for top spot after posting a competitive total against Jindivick.

Amandeep Singh made a flying start for the Gulls hitting 11 boundaries in his 55.

Singh’s dismissal brought Andy and Sam Fennell together and the father and son pair added 83 before Andy was run out for a well-struck 48.

Sam top scored for the visitors with 62 and handy starts in the middle order ensured a defendable target was set.

Michael Gnaden had the radar tuned in and snared 2/51 from 14 overs. He was ably supported by Logan Colley who picked up 2/72.

Nothing separates these two sides but if Jindivick work hard and bat their overs they should get the runs.
