Hawks in box-seat

- by Adam Johnson

Division 6 Drouin 7/321 (cc) vs. Garfield/Tynong

Drouin are in the box seat in their clash with Garfield/Tynong with three half centuries helping the Hawks reach a 300 plus total.

Stephen Bleazby (72) lead from the top of the order and a 125-run partnership with Mick Wardle (62) laid a solid foundation for the remainder of the innings.

Brad Cross backed up his century from the previous round with 66, helping the home side to an imposing total against a Titans side severely undermanned for the first 20 overs of the innings.

Darren Vandenberge couldn’t run through the opposition on this occasion but was still the pick of the bowlers with 4/71 off twenty overs.

Once again chasing a big target won’t be easy but the Titans have the side to do it.

Bankers start well

Ellinbank 10/213 vs. Jindivick 0/10 Ellinbank got away to a great start against Jindivick before the regular fall of wickets saw the runs dry up.

Samuel Pratt (33) and James Ogden (58) led the way for the Bankers with Ryan Mcguiness (29) and John Jacovou (25) making handy contributions before the home side were all out in the 55th over.

Jess Sanders ran through the middle order with an exceptional six over spell to claim 4/13.

Tim Jeffrey sent down 17 overs to come away with 2/81. Jindivick will resume at 0/10 and should chase down the target comfortably.

Henshall hits out

Hallora 10/247 vs. Warragul Matt Henshall has recorded his maiden half century after launching a blistering attack on the Warragul bowlers.

Coming in at number eight, Henshall gave no quarter as he struck the ball to all parts of the ground, racking up 15 boundaries and three sixes on his way to an amazing 97.

Earlier in the day Michael Lynch and Liam Serong each posted their best scores of the season with 39 and 32 respectively.

Joseph Youngman (22) also made a start as the Kangas posted a very defendable total.

Ryley Green put in an excellent effort with the new ball to finish with 3/58 off 15 overs along with Daniel Whitten who picked up 3/35 off eight.

Hopefully Warragul can make it a good contest but I think Hallora will take the points.
