Stags take two flags

D grade

Neerim District (4-113) def. Jindivick (109): On the small confines of Dowton Park No.2 Oval, Neerim District continued their flag-winning ways in the D grade T20 grand final, as the Stags cruised to a six-wicket win.

Having sent their opponents into bat, the decision looked as though it could potentially back-fire for Neerim, as Jase Eastham (17) and Anwar Magnusson (37) looked comfortable at the crease.

However, the introduction of Justin Price and Nathan Ryrie turned the match on its head, with the duo triggering a collapse of 7-30 that left the Jindivick innings in tatters.

Only Kevin Larkman (who stuck 17* late in the innings) was able to make it to double figures for the middle and lower order, with Price (4-15) and Ryrie (2-10) proving too good.

Having bundled the Jumping Jacks out for 109 in the 19th over, the Stags then set about chasing down the runs – and Jamie Gleeson (21) and Brad Fusinato (36) ensured there would be no early collapse.

The pair waited for the right balls to punish and anchored the chase superbly.

Magnusson capped off a fine day by snaring 3-21, but even he couldn’t prevent Warren Darcy (25*) from belting consecutive boundaries to end the innings – Neerim District reaching 4-113 in the 14th over.
