Drouin

Saturday saw 45 pairs play a stableford multiplier event, which hasn’t been seen at the Drouin club for many years.

A game that requires both partners to combine extremely well, four pointers can become extremely valuable, yet they can mean nothing if your partner has a dreaded wipe out.

Wipe outs obviously were not an issue for Glenn Vandeligt and Scott Blaney, who amassed a crazy score of 110 points. If you do the math, that’s an average of just over six points per hole, which is beyond impressive.

The runners up would feel hard done by with a score of 105 points, unfortunately for Lea Caldwell and Mike Cresp, it wasn’t quite enough on the day.

You needed 82 or better to get a ball down the line:

Phil and Gary Creely 87, Peter Browne and Geoff Bjorksten 85, Steve Waters and Rob Fredrickson 83, Phil Mason and Nick Pellatt 82.

Hellen Moon and Glenda Warren won the women’s event with 59 points.

On Wednesday, 94 players contested a stableford event in perfect conditions.

The Garfield members continue with their dominance on Wednesday’s, with Trevor Langmaid scoring a brilliant 42 points off his 11 handicap.

Lea Caldwell, who would work on his game more than anyone at the club, is obviously seeing the results lately with a great score of 42 points off his 18 handicap to be the B grade winner.

Ray Mooney has gone about three weeks without winning a competition, so he put a quick end to that with 41 points off a 25 handicap to take out C grade.

Thirty-nine points on a countback was needed to get a ball down the line:

Paul Davie 41, Alan Craig 41, George Connor 41, Nick Clarke 41, Simon Appleby 41, Jason Stirzaker 40, Gary Newitt 40, Rod Hedley 40, Stuart Williams 39.

NTP: 5th Ray Hayley, 8th Trevor Langmaid, 10th Denis Doherty, 14th Nick Clarke.

Entries for the 2017 gala day on March 24 are now open. Get your team together and be a part of what will be a great day.

Tomorrow is a stroke event and the March mid-week medal.

Saturday is a big day, with it being a stroke event, the March monthly medal, and the first round of the Club Championships.
