Illegal dumping
I was one of those that had reported the illegally dumped dairy waste drums (Gaz 21/3), however, I did not know that it was dairy waste as the stench was so horrific that I avoided walking my dogs near the site for four weeks.
It did take a long time for the waste to be removed and as the article stated council had to further investigate the matter.
My purpose and motivation to write this letter is to inform the community that Walton Road, the site of where the dairy waste was dumped, is a deemed regular dumping ground for tyres, furniture, green waste and youth burn-outs on a Friday and Saturday night.
It is a shame that people have the audacity to dump their waste in a beautiful country location because they think it doesn’t matter; their actions are careless and inconsiderate of the native environment and our human companions. Or, do they dump because they are too lazy and avoiding appropriate waste disposal methods.
These litter bugs need to get caught; they litter discretely and believe that they are never caught. I encourage council to investigate these hot spots and survey these areas in Baw Baw Shire more thoroughly and regularly and erect signage to let people know that there is a penalty for dumping. I think that signage would help the situation, as there is no signage at Walton Road.
I have reported illegal dumping of items at regular intervals over the years because I am observant of the littering due to my daily dog walks along this road.
The signage, I believe will help educate and deter the litter bug, that they do not have a right to dispose of their litter inappropriately and must use the correct services in our community like everybody else does.

Thank you to the Drouin Golf and Country Club. The staff have made me feel very welcome as a social member.
High praise for the friendly, helpful and welcoming staff at the Friday bistro nights with their varied menu and great raffle prizes. Job well done guys - you put in a lot of hard work we take for granted.
This is for the person who came up with the dumbest idea to put a pedestrian crossing at the top of Drouin.
