Green madness

-

The Hazelwood Power Station has closed and there goes 22 per cent of our reliable base load power.

Power prices will immediately spike and continue to rise as Dan’s Greenlabor government follows the folly of South Australia’s rapid move to renewable energy. Premier Jay Weatherill blew up SA’s source of economical, reliable base load power, its coal fire power station at Port Augusta. The Greens rejoiced.

Many jobs were lost, power prices spiked, the grid failed four times as wind power is unreliable and can destabilise smooth supply.

In emergencies SA relies on coal fired power from Victoria, but not after Hazelwood has closed New generation coal or gas fired power stations should be built.

Solar for battery storage is great for domestic, but will never supply base load power for industry. Wind turbines are inefficient, unreliable and a blot on the landscape. Each turbine is subsidised to the tune of $450,000 with our tax dollars,

On an average day Hazelwood produced more power than all of Australia’s wind turbines. People seem to be under the falsehood that renewable energy is clean. There is a huge carbon imprint in the mining, manufacture, residual pollution and transport of these products.

Turbines, batteries and solar panels have a limited life and one day millions of these products will have to be recycled That process will require base load power and there will be huge volumes of residual toxic materials to dispose of.
