Bigger premises for Olivia’s Place

-

Parenting and pregnancy support organisation Ol ivia’s Place has moved to new premises in Queen St, Warragul.

The organisation is preparing for an open day on April 11 at its new home, 34 Queen St.

The property is currently owned by West Gippsland Healthcare Group after it was bequeathed to the hospital some time ago.

The building and land is being sold to local couple Bernard and Meredith Seebeck who were happy to make a generous offer to Olivia’s Place to occupy the property.

The lease agreement, commencing with WGHG will be continued with Mr and Mrs Seebeck after settlement this month.

At 2.5 times the size of the former premises, the property is suited to Olivia’s Place’s needs. Material aid is the focus of the lower ground floor of the building, with donations and collections being managed from a rear door accessed via Trinca Lane (turn near the new Shell service station).

Client services and the public parent room are provided from the Queen Street entrance. The public parent room includes a comfortable feeding area, large disabled access bathroom and a baby change table.

The community is invited to the open day which will run from 10am to 1pm, Member for Narracan Gary Blackwood and Member for Eastern Victoria Melina Bath will visit at noon.

Centre manager Kirsten Finger said it was an opportunity to show the community how the organisation supported families.

“We are also hoping to attract the interest of more volunteers to join the team, with the demand for our services ever increasing,” she said.

Olivia’s Place will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-1pm each day.

Ms Finger said the extended hours offered increased volunteering opportunities to the team. The final date for the change to hours is to be confirmed, but is expected to commence in early to mid April.

Olivia’s Place still has two offices available for sublease – one on the Queen St level, and another on the lower ground floor. For enquiries please contact Kirsten Finger on 0402 609 343.
