Calling all councillors to view Alford St oaks
I am the co-author of the original petition to manage the trees on Alford Street, Warragul.
The petition focused on the opinions of the owner occupied properties in the street, directly affected by the condition of the trees.
The petition presented to Baw Baw Council was supported by 80 per cent of those properties. All of the signatories agreed that the trees require a trim.
Over 10 years ago the council responded to a similar petition and trimmed the trees to the property line and the trees haven't suffered.
Before the current officers' report is presented to the council with their recommendations on May 24, I invite officers and councillors to come down to Alford Street,
Walk from Victoria Street to Hope Street, along both sides, and have a really good look at the extent of the tree growth and its impact on those directly affected.
Madeleine Boulay-Cook, Warragul and the local council, Baw Baw Shire.
We do know that the local CFA has put in an expression of interest to relocate their current site to this area. In the process to date, the Yarragon Business Association requested that council keep it informed of any developments.
Regrettably this was not done and the first we found out about it was that they had rejected the idea of procuring it. Later we were told that they did not meet the Education Department criteria.
Our issue is that the community is never included in the process A recent public meeting on the future of the old Yarragon School site indicated a very strong opinion that the land, if used correctly, will have a significant impact on the local community.
It is now a big challenge for the community to have its ideas and thoughts listened to by all levels of government and that any decision adds to the services of Yarragon.
Indications suggest that the only criteria that the Education Department; thus the State Government, are concerned about is balancing their budgets.
It is vital that we as a community initiate a drive to convince the government that we can and are willing to participate in programs and projects that will advance its wellbeing and development as a thriving community. Partnerships can give the maximum return to all parties on any investment made.
Ideas are many and varied on what the land can be used for - larger location for the CFA station, community shed- facility, eco sustainability housing project, drop point for RVs, parking for long vehicles, future parking for the commercial area, community space for the locals and the travelling public and self-contained elderly housing.
The government has now advertised a planning change to the land is now being sought and has requested submissions on this.
We need to look at all contingencies and ensure that the community has an input irrespective of the outcome.
Michael Fozard, Yarragon external evidences, all show the Bible to be an accurate and credible record.
It is correct where it touches on other historical events and true science. It is consistent and in harmony with itself despite many different writers over thousands of years.
Accurately fulfilled Bible prophecy in every detail is also proof of the God directed writing of the Bible and gives us confidence in its reliability and that the few remaining prophecies to be fulfilled will be.
The Bible presents a great hope for the future of the earth and mankind.
It speaks of the establishment of God’s kingdom on a rejuvenated earth with Christ ruling from Jerusalem, with peace and harmony restored worldwide. The Bible shows us how we can participate in this.
God has given us freewill. We can choose to believe or not to believe. We should do it thoughtfully.
I would like to send a bouquet to the tradie who knocked on our door to tell me he had built our balustrade when we renovated some months ago, and he was driving past and noticed some of the wires were loose so he fixed them!
Also bouquets to Mumfords Removals who did a professional job for us and returned later to remove all the empty boxes. College. Glenda McKinlay, Warragul
If Athlone Primary School is used for ice meldtown program maybe after all these years the solar flashing school zones signs could be moved in to Drouin Secondary are exonerated for killing their captives. Wars have been started and thousands have died for your beliefs. Maybe you should clean up you own 'gene-pool' before you start in on anyone else.
As far as your call for me to 'choose', I already have. I choose marriage equality, female selfdetermination, freedom from religious oppression and interference, and any number of things your religion doesn't seem to grasp.
I have chosen to believe in science because it has facts to back it up, rather than the dodgy heresay religion relies on. How dare you link youth suicide and train surfing with evolution. Get a grip and come into this century.
On the subject of holidays, your religion doesn't have a single holiday it can call its own. Every single one of them was celebrated centuries before your 'hero' was even invented. How do I know? Science told me, and has the facts to back it up. By all means, try to take the moral high ground. All that delicious backlighting will make you a perfect target.

Dorevitch staff members have requested the bays for some years – very helpful for disabled patients accessing the centre – and, at last, it has happened. Great moves.
Bricks to the young, rude and impatient cyclist on the Warragul walking track last week who sped around a couple on the track and forced off the track an elderly bloke walking in the opposite direction.
To the couple who "free-range" their two huge brown hounds, on Lardner Road, in the dark, on Saturday morning.
If your dogs are 'under control', then you are deliberately inflicting 15 seconds of pure terror on your fellow citizens. never mind; when someone's heart actually DOES stop with fright, you can always comfort them with "It's okay; they won't hurt you."
No regard, no responsibility, no apology, no remorse and no change in your anti-social behaviour. Heard of a lead?
You give dog-owners a bad name.
