Cats continue dominance

-

Neerim-Neerim South continued their early dominance of the Ellinbank District Football League season, this time comfortably accounting for Lang Lang.

Looking to achieve big things this season under coach Allan Chandler, who has been driving high standards, the Cats look in ominour touch early to sit undefeated at the top of the ladder with a healthy percentage after five rounds.

Fellow competition front runner Ellinbank kept their unbeaten sequence going, with the win over Nyora marred by some unfortunate circumstances.

Play was delayed significantly in the third term when Ash Wallace fell and landed awkwardly. Wallace was taken to Dandenong Hospital but later discharged that night having received the all clear.

Ten minutes were wiped from the clock as a result of the delay.

The Eagles capitalised on a strong start for the second consecutive week, booting eight goals in the first term only for the Saints to work their way back into the contest.

The Saints matched it with the Eagles in the second half, but the early lead proved too much to chase.

Warragul Industrials bounced back strongly to keep in touch with the ladder leaders.

Longwarry were competitive early before the Industrials took control, powering away with a dominant second half.

Catani held onto fourth spot on the ladder, comfortably brushing aside Poowong.

Nilma-Darnum’s disappointing season continued, relinquishing a three-quarter-time lead to go down to Buln Buln.

The Lyrebirds’ third win puts them in outright fifth on the ladder.
