Cats continue dominance

-

Neerim-Neerim South continued its dominance in the Ellinbank District Football League, easily accounting for Lang Lang 21-21 (147) to 4-4 (28).

The Cats added another percentage boosting win to sit comfortably at the top of the ladder, with a significant percentage gap to second-placed Ellinbank.

Neerim-Neerim South made light work of the struggling Tigers. Kicking six goals to one in the first term, the Cats were always in control in building out to an unassailable 90-point lead at the final change.

The Tigers fared better in the final term, adding three goals after only registering the one major to three-quartertime.

But the Cats finished stonger, kicking seven final quarter goals of their own to finish with another boost to their already healthy percentage.

Chris Urie was the major beneficiary in front of goal this time around, kicking seven goals, although leading goal kicker Tyssen Morrow was no slouch, himself finishing with six majors.

Calum Shiels, Kody Wilson, Jackson Ward and Michael Urie ensured they had plenty of supply.

Cats claw Tigers

A dominant first quarter set NeerimNeerim South on their way to a comfortable win in the Reserves, 13-14 (92) to 3-6 (24).

The Cats kicked six goals in the first quarter, and while Lang Lang tightened for the remaining three quarters the early damage had been done.

Jason Halligan and Jeremiah Jones each kicked four goals, while Douglas Black, Sean Ladds, Ben Lockett and Tobi Yusuf were also prominent.

The Tigers were best served by Riley Marshall, Scott Fairburn, Dan Kirby, Gavin O’Hayon and Tim Elmes.

Cats too strong

Neerim-Neerim South were far too strong in the under 16s, winning 21-11 (137) to 2-1 (13).

The Cats kicked six goals in the first quarter and were never headed, having 18 majors on the board at three-quarter-time before taking the foot of the pedal in the final term.

Neerim-Neerim South players were lining up for a piece of the action in front of goal, led by Justin Lockett (five goals) and Adam White and Rhys George, who each booted four majors. Corey Peterson chipped in with three goals.

The Tigers were best served by Joel Mudge, Edoardo Curia, Mason Koffman, Brad Ventura and Jye Stephens.
