The Drouin West Primary School community extends an invitation to families considering their educational options for children in 2018. The school will be open on Thursday May 25 from 9.00-11.00am for school tours during Education Week. Prep tours and parent information session will also be held on Wednesday June 21st from 2.00pm.
Drouin West Primary School values the strong and supportive partnership with their parents and the wider community.
Their parent body provides amazing support to the school by organising major fundraising events, including the recently held school fair, attending working bees, supporting classroom programs, being actively involved in a range of sporting events and a variety of programs in classrooms.
The agreed purpose of the school is to nurture, inspire, enrich and support every student to achieve their best at school.
A wide range of programs are offered and implemented by a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team. They strive for excellence in their practice to help all children achieve their personal learning goals and develop a passion for life-long learning. The school has been accredited to accept enrolments for international students and welcomed their first four international students this year.
A comprehensive, sequential curriculum is provided for all students in Years P-6.
The school has specialist programs for Physical Education, Primary Science, Reading Intervention, Performing Arts and Japanese.
The school also has a Chaplain two days a week to support children and their families. Programs offered by the Chaplain include the very popular Seasons for Growth program and our Step into Prep the Playgroup sessions.

As well as a focus on core academic learning, Drouin West Primary School values extra curriculum activities to broaden students experiences at school.
They offer special activity days to celebrate 100 days at school, lunchtime programs including: lego club, fun and games, open library, recorder groups, and the popular school choir.
Students also have the opportunity to be involved in excursions, camps, concerts, sporting schools programs, sport clinics, CFA kids, first aid in schools, responsible pet ownership, student–staff competitions, the school vegetable garden, frog habitat and scrabble tournaments throughout the year. Students are encouraged to have a voice in the decisions made in the school and aim to fulfil student leadership positions when in Year 6.
Private instrumental music lessons are available in a wide range of instruments through the school. A popular Out of School Hours program
Young people who find that mainstream school doesn't suit their learning style have an option to learn 'their way' at ECG College at Warragul.
The College offers a VCAL program for young people aged 15 to 20 with a different approach to learning.
Class sizes are small and students are treated as young adults. They learn through projectbased learning to develop a whole range of work-related, personal development, literacy and numeracy skills to prepare them for work and life.
VCAL (the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) is an accredited senior secondary qualification and ECG College offers Foundation, Intermediate, and Senior level VCAL.
As part of their project based learning, students learn how to use hand tools, power tools, work with wood, weld, recycle materials, landscape, grow plants, cook, and run activities and more.
They can also try out a range of trades and is also available for families needing child care before or after school.
