Kids matter at Drouin South Primary School!

-

Kids come first at Drouin South Primary School. The aim of all staff, students and parents at Drouin South is to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment where everyone feels valued and is provided with opportunities to be successful.

Student voice at Drouin South is highly valued with student teams such as the Junior School Council continually working hard to make our school a great place for kids.

Our Junior School Council is made up of representatives from across the school who meet on a regular basis to run events and fundraise for items that all kids will benefit from.

Throughout the year these activities include lunch-time movies and popcorn, student-made colouring books, dress-up parades and even a Christmas Fair. The students involved learn great leadership and organisational skills whilst having fun.

Situated just five kilometres from Drouin township, Drouin South Primary School provides a pleasant rural setting for our 190 students. The school provides a diverse and differentiated curriculum aimed at ensuring every student has an opportunity to grow and succeed.

We have a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy as well as offering specialist programs in Visual Arts and Science with students in Prep to Year 2 also learning Japanese. Computers and iPads are used as part of the curriculum to enhance learning across the school.

A School Council bus services the township of Drouin daily and the school offers a fantastic Out of School Hours Care program that provides children with enrichment opportunities before and after school.

Drouin South Primary School prides itself on its excellent facilities within a rural atmosphere. These include a modern learning centre which caters for our junior and middle school as well as a senior school wing that houses four classrooms and a well-stocked library.

The school also has an art and craft centre, synthetic surfaced basketball and netball courts, a canteen, spacious grounds and vegetable garden. The adjoining public hall is available for school use throughout the day and is often used for activities such as physical education sessions and visiting performances. The school offers many extra-curricular activities that are available to ensure all children have the opportunity to pursue their personal interests.

These activities include, but are not limited to, Junior School Council, Environmental Club, instrumental music lessons, camps, sports opportunities and of course the Kids Matter group.

During Education Week, parents of prospective 2018 Preps are invited to come and “meet the principal” and enjoy a tour of the school. This will take place on Wednesday, 24th May at 9.30am.

If you would like to visit Drouin South Primary School at any time, please contact the school principal, Michael Smith, on 5627 6286 to arrange a suitable time.
