Warragul & Drouin Gazette

Mixed fortunes at Lyndale

-

This week the Drouin Dragons travelled to Lyndale Football Club, which is in Greater Dandenong.

It saw the reserves win and the seniors lose 0-4. Reserves The boys had a challenge on their hands with only having 10 players available due to an injury issue at Drouin at the moment.

The spot was filled with a rotation of senior players.

Prior to the start the team had a challenge set to them to have a break from the norm and start the game fast and sharp, not like weeks prior and take 30 minutes to fire up.

And they took the challenge on. Starting first and sharp creating chances, in 10 minutes at 1-0 up the game had good pace and fight about with Drouin dominating and pushing the ball well.

The game finished 2-1 to Drouin, scoring the three points. Seniors This game should have been a great contest but due to player numbers, the senior squad had already played part of a game.

Drouin started well, knocking the ball around pressing high up the park hitting the wide players.

But this lasted for about 10 minutes then the disappointment was a game of errors and for some reason the Dragons couldn’t put more than two passes together. They started to get pushed off of the ball. At the half time change, Drouin was 2-0 down due to errors from the back line gifting Lyndale two goals.

The talk was about enforcing themselves on the game and to start attacking the ball also to try and follow the game instructions from the coaching team.

The half started and Drouin looked good, getting around the park playing good balls but then another mistake another error gifted a third goal to Lyndale.

The Drouin boys started to drop off again but still tried to fight with fresh legs coming on to help.

In the last few minutes, out of the blue, an absolute thunder bolt was scored, the final score 4-0 to Lyndale. Player awards: Chris Davies; Frank Pitsiano; Coach award: Ben Smith.
