Ottery brothers start well

Warragul and Labertouche White played out the match of the week in A grade action of Mid Gippsland junior badminton.

The Ottrey brothers started well in the first doubles for Labertouche but the Bloye brothers won the second doubles. Then Ryan and Josh won the last game for Warragul.

This gave Warragul the advantage in games but aces were even.

Tim pushed Andrew to work his hardest to win the first singles, then Stuart followed-up with a win in his singles to give Labertouche the lead.

Josh, who had won all his games so far, had easily overwhelmed Ashlea in the last singles of the night, giving Warragul the narrowest of wins.

The unluckiest team for the night would be the other A grade Labertouche team, the Blues.

Even though they didn’t win a single game on the night, every game except one went to three sets and they were so close on so many occasions.

Unfortunately there were two teams again that didn’t send in their scoresheet, and they played each other.

It is important that all teams send their results in so that they will not be penalised.

Teams have been selected for Gippsland team event on Sunday at Warragul.

Athlone badminton

The Knights held off the Princesses in round 10 of Athlone badminton.

The Ninjas had a good win over the Cowboys, while the Pirates defeated the Vikings.

Vikings captain Glenn has come down with a sudden illness, and the club wish him a solid recovery. Results: Knights d Princesses 114-106, Ninjas 115 d Cowboys 110, Pirates d Vikings 113-95.

Diamonds moved to top of the Warragul Thursday women’s tennis ladder with victory over Rubies in round four.

Pearls closed the gap at the bottom of the ladder, defeating Emeralds.
