Controversial program
For anyone who has followed the news over the last year or so, it would be fair to say that the ‘safe schools' program is controversial.
The Education Department curriculum in Victoria now has ultimate say over what our children are taught from kinder through to Year 12.
And not just about educational, schooling matters. They are trying to tell my kinder child that homosexuality is ‘right, safe and perfect'. Regardless of the fact that they have no evidence to back up their claims.
The kinder is run by the YMCA, who want all kinder teachers to be teaching the children about homosexual relationships. But yet, they are not even telling parents that they are planning to teach the children this, we are just told (in a newsletter article) that they will learn about ‘family diversity'.
When I approached the kinder teacher about not wanting my child to be taught about homosexuality I was told that I wasn't to message on the kinder's private Facebook page or talk to other parents about it.
This coming from a kinder that claims it is tolerant and inclusive. I wonder why their definition of inclusion is not what is in the dictionary. Free speech is said to be a slogan of Australia and so I did indeed post a message to let parents know. It is our responsibility as a parent to determine what our child is exposed to, so why should an organisation get the ultimate say over a preschooler?

Bouquets to all the local police officers for all the good things they do. They should be better paid and given more appreciation for the work they do. Think about all the good these officers do.
With all that’s going in the world today, our shire, the one who spends our rates, think that having someone represent the shire at the International day against homophobia? I for one, don’t care, I don’t care who or why, on the scale of importance, this is not one of them.
We have a pound that is disgrace, roads in desperate need of repair, our beautiful countryside being chopped up for housing, no new kinders,
Activities for youths. Council should have no business involving itself in such matters, why? Because will it make a difference to us , will our rates decrease ? Will we get more for our rates? Will this build new kinders, fix our roads? I think not. I’m not homophobic, I just think our council should have more pressing matters.
To the person in Archibald Crescent, Warragul who lit a backyard fire on Tuesday, May 23 what makes you think that all your neighbours would appreciate being smoked out for hours on end..
Bouquet to the ‘bearded man’ at Bunnings who had the courage to speak up when he innocently couldn't see the disability sticker that had fallen off the dashboard of a car that was parked in the disabled parking. Good on you for actually sticking up for the disabled population to protect their much needed close parking.
A big thank you to the friendly, helpful librarians at the Drouin Library for their persistence in troubleshooting a printing problem.
I would like to send a big bouquet to the lady who found money in the Country Club toilet on May 11 and handed it in to a staff member. I was grateful to have the money returned but due to ill health I have been unable to say thanks for your honesty, it has restored my faith in human beings.
