Counterfeit note warning
Counterfeit $50 notes were found circulating in Drouin last week.
Police have urged community members to be mindful of counterfeit money, particularly $50 and $100 notes.
Police received a report of several counterfeit $50 notes that were discovered amongst cash at The Family Hotel, Drouin.
The warning comes after similar reports of counterfeit $50 notes circulating in Traralgon earlier this month.
Police said counterfeit money would not be obtained through an ATM machine but people should be well aware and take note of notes when they receive cash out or exchanged money through business premises.
“Ensure it is genuine money because you will be out of pocket if you don’t pay attention,” said acting senior sergeant Roy Moore.
