Fonterra assists with keeping score

-

Keeping score just got a lot easier for the Ellinbank Junior Football Club, who received a grant from the Fonterra grass roots fund.

Ellinbank Junior Football Club is one of eight recipients in Gippsland to receive a grant from the fund.

The grant will go towards the purchase of an electronic scoreboard at the Ellinbank Recreation Reserve.

EJFC president Martin Auldist said he was grateful for Fonterra’s

support, which will not only benefit the Ellinbank Junior Football Club but also other users of the recreation reserve, including Ellinbank Football and Netball Club and the Ellinbank Cricket Club.

“These teams are filled with children and adults from the surrounding Ellinbank dairy community, making this recreation reserve a critical hub for around 200 local families.

“The new scoreboard complements a recent upgrade of our facilities, and we hope it will improve spectator and player enjoyment, ultimately helping attract more players and families to our clubs,” Martin said.

Fonterra regional operations manager Trevor Sharpe said the fund aimed to sustain healthy, vibrant communities by sponsoring ideas, projects and initiatives that make a real impact, such as the electronic scoreboard.

“Ellinbank Junior Football Club was chosen as it fits perfectly within our criteria – bringing communities together and promoting healthy lifestyles.

“The Fonterra Grass Roots Fund is our way of saying thank you by supporting projects and ideas that bring our communities together and make them better, more vibrant places to be,” he said.

Other fund recipients in West Gippsland included: The Warragul Hub; Baw Baw L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program; Warragul Scout Group; Drouin Tennis Club; Friends of Mt Worth State Park.
