THIRDS PIPPED
Drouin thirds were a bit unlucky not to hold on for a win in the previous round and on Saturday at Bairnsdale were very unlucky not to get at least two premiership points.
A free kick to Bairnsdale with only seconds left and a superb after the siren kick from near the boundary line 45 metres from goal gave the Redlegs an 8-5 to 75 win.
Drouin’s effort was even more commendable given it still has some out with injuries and had Liam Gleeson called up for his senior debut.
Jesse Craig was a stand-out for Drouin finishing with four of the goals.
Others to shine were Charlie Bethune, Aaron Warner, Lennard Edwards-Hayes and Jared Mills.
Trent Kearney, Darrin Edwards-Hayes and Jared Mills were the other goalkickers.
In the fourths Bairnsdale, that has lost only one match, was too strong in scoring a 12-14 to 3-5 win.
Drouin’s best were Regan Taylor, Christian Robertson-Edgar, Blake Roberts, Jack Fraser, Fletcher Robertson-Edgar and Shaun Custance.
Trent Kearney kicked two of the goals and Logan Corbet one.
