Bombers keep hopes alive
Nilma-Darnum kept its hopes of a top five finish alive with a comfortable victory over Lang Lang, 1610 (106) to 9-5 (59).
The Bombers needed to win comfortably to keep their season on track, and held up their end of the bargain against a struggling Tigers.
Five goals to one in the first term helped the Bombers on their way and they were never headed, opening a handy 40-point buffer at half time.
The third term was a repeat of the first, the Bombers adding five goals to one to extend the lead beyond 10 goals and have the match in their keeping.
The Tigers added some respectability to the scoreboard in the final term, adding five goals to two as the Bombers took the foot off the pedal.
Ben Campbell kicked four goals for the visitor, while Hayden Potts chipped in with three majors. Jean Bezzene, Luke Lange, Nicholas Murray, Nicholas Wilcox and Luke Bartlett also helped the Bombers out to a commanding lead.
William McGindle, Riley Marshall, Joseph Dalgleish, Sean Dwyer and Dylan Wilson kept battling to the end, allowing the Tigers to put some respectability back into the scoreboard.
Tigers too strong
Lang Lang were far too strong for a young Nilma-Darnum side in the Reserves, winning 18-10 (118) to 2-6 (18).
With several under 16 players taking to the field after a hard-fought win at Ellinbank, the Tigers were simply too strong.
Jarrod Thompson booted seven goals while Aidan Brown booted four majors as the Tigers brushed aside their opponents, registering 14 goals to the final change.
Declan Taylor kicked two consolation goals for the Bombers in the final term. Corey Wright, Steve Tweedle, Aaron Gardner, Jake Alexiadis, Luke Galley and Korey Carrison also battled against the odds.
Darnos hold on
Nilma-Darnum held on to defeat Ellinbank in a hard fought under 16s contest, 5-8 (38) to 3-7 (25).
The match began in thick fog, which hampered scoring early.
With scores all tied up at half time, the Bombers edged ahead. With the scoreboard not attended, it added to the intrigue for the crowd who urged on their respective side.
The competitive match was played out in good spirits, with the final result not thought of by officials until deep into the final term.
Blake Kahan, Sebastian Crowle, Blake Cann, Tim Ruddell and Korey Carrison helped the Bombers edge ahead.
Corey Garlick, Patrick Anderson, Stewart Bedford, Nicholas Matheson, Lachlan Hedrick and Jesse Kelly kept the Eagles in the contest until the very end.
