Gough and Turner take title

-

After a very foggy start the day turned into a glorious sunny winter’s day on Saturday for the final of the 4BBB par event played between Bob Gough and Rex Turner verses Barrie Cousin and Peter Smith.

Turner and Gough got off to a flyer and were five holes up after the front nine, but with shear determination, skill and ability, Cousin and Smith got the match back to square after playing the 16th.

The 17th was duly halved then Turner and Gough won the 18th, giving them a one hole up victory. All four players were congratulated on putting on a very exciting final.

Everyone else played a game of single stableford and with the excellent conditions; a field of 96 were keen to get out doors for a game.

Craig Cousin, son of the aforementioned Barrie, did best for the major grade with an excellent score of 43 points playing off his mark of 14.

Coming in with the same score to win the B grade event was Justin Medwin playing off his handicap of 18. Best in for C grade was Ben Balfour with a winning score of 40 points.

Playing to your handicap with a score of 36 points was required to win a ball down the line, which was achieved by nine players.
