Keep to the facts

-

In response to the letter by Don McLean and Bob Haisman in letters to the editor on 20/6/17.

Why is it that certain individuals feel that they are allowed to attack the integrity of other people in a public forum like “letters to the editor” just because they don’t agree with the other point of view?

Why is it that they feel that they have no need to get the facts or verify the truth before they vent?

In our current times this is recognised as bullying. Both of these letters resulted from the individuals taking the comments on the front page of the Gazette on 13/6/17 as being totally correct. They were not.

On Wednesday the 14/6/17 I informed Yvette Brand that the statement on being rushed into a decision because of going into a caretaker mode was not correct.

On the 15/6/17 I informed Keith Anderson from the Gazette about the same issue. Not only did the Gazette fail to correct my position, they decided that a headline endorsing the letters to be more appropriate.

The Gazette is such an important information sharing forum for our community and should morally only print what are true facts. Not headlines to sell a paper.

As far as Mr McLean and Mr Haisman goes neither of you even attempted to contact me, if you want to find the facts do it by picking up
