Cats on top in Reserves

Neerim-Neerim South remain on top of the Reserves ladder following a comfortabl­e win over Buln Buln, 11-11 (77) to 3-5 (23).

The Cats made a slow start before gradually building their lead.

Chris Redl and Jeremiah Jones each kicked three goals, while Kane Saliba, Sean Ladds, Darren Ratten, Heath Strating, Matthew Sweet and Daniel Churchill also helped the Cats to a strong win.

Jack Symes, Dylan Kelly, Riley Steenholdt, Jake Baker, Paul Willis and Matthew Dawson were the better players for Buln Buln.

Cats claw birds

A strong start helped Neerim-Neerim South to victory in the under 18s, 9-7 (61) to 4-7 (31).

The Lyrebirds won the final term to put some respectabi­lity back into the scoreboard, but the Cats had kicked away to a 42-point lead to have the match in their keeping at three-quarter-time.

Rhys George kicked three goals, with Adam White, Cooper Clancy, Isaiah Abrahams, Matt Kelliher and Justin Lockett also among the better players for the Cats.

James Fowler, Brett Kettle, Jediah Melbourne, Harry Wans, Ryan Wellings and Michael Rowlinson helped the Lyrebirds to a strong finish.

Buln up to challenge

Buln Buln won a closely contested under 16 match, 6-7 (43) to 4-6 (30).

The Lyrebirds kicked out to a 19point lead at quarter time, and withstood a challenge from the Cats to win.

Jake Smith kicked three goals, while Jarrod Thomas, Brodie Lowe, Reid Strachan, Charlie Wans and Jaryd Kelly also helped the Lyrebirds kick out to an early lead.

Lachlan Guy, Josh White, Kyle Bright, Thomas Pollard, Beau Ellis and Patrick Bernard helped keep the Cats in the contest.
