Drouin Dragons found short

-

This week the Drouin state league teams travelled to Somerville to see a repeat of many other rounds, with Reserves players pulling out leaving the squad short.

But the lads who took the park did the best they could the game started out very even.

Somerville started to take control after about 15 minutes although Drouin had good shape and even though they moved well they found themselves one second behind the play making for a hard day.

In the second half, Drouin was much better but still the damage was done in the first half with the final score a 4-1 loss.

The Senior’s game started the same as the reserves with players pulling out.

This game was one of the better performances of the year, right from the start Drouin forced Somerville to play to their pace and style but unfortunately some unfortunate calls from the referee, Drouin went down 1-0 at half time.

In the second half, Somerville never threatened at all with Drouin controlling everything with the boys hitting the cross bar, the posts and even had the ball go in and not count, also go in and bounce out again and not count.

Drouin had everything but luck on its side during the game. The way the boys played makes all involved feel confident about the second half of the season.

Awards: Benjamin Smith, Aaron Vaughn, Andrew Bowmar.

Bunyip went down to Lyndale 3-0 in the Reserves, but fared better in the Seniors, going down 1-0.

Warragul United went down to Clifton Hill 10, following a 6-1 loss in the Reserves.
