Neighbourhood Watch hold AGM
Warragul/Drouin Neighourhood Watch elected its new committee at its annual general meeting dinner recently.
The recent Operation Safe Plate day raised $447, which was passed on as a donation to Warragul CFA.
Eight CFAvolunteers had assisted on the day, with great comradery and fellowship between the two groups. A successful year was reported at the meeting. Twenty members attended the AGM dinner in June last yearwith acting chief executive of Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Geoff Kloot guest speaker.
Geoff gave a very interesting talk and showed some slides of NHW activities within the state.
All were invigorated by his presentation. It gave optimism that NHW is still alive and kicking at least in some areas.
David had acted as area manager in the absence of Mick, who had gone to England for four months away to assist his unwell brother with his renovations.
Guest speaker David Edelman of Aureole Systems gave an informative talk on IT security and viruses at its October public meeting.
An Operation Safe Plate day was also held in October, while the corporate bowls event was cancelled. It is hoped there may be a competition the group may join at Drouin for next season.
A wonderful evening was had by all who attended the Christmas party inDecember.
A public meeting was held at the Warragul police station in March with an enthralling evening largely thanks to officers Kevin Mclaren and Mel Blair. After their talk the group were taken for a tour.
Astate meeting and area managers meetings were also attended. Financially the group are in a healthy state. Committee members from 2016-17 were thanked, being Terry Wise, Ron and Maureen Gardner, Steve and Anne Pascoe, Tony and Glenda Kelly. Graeme and Irene Rolfe, Sunil and Bhavna Bhatt.
