Projects funded by LVA

-

The Old Walhalla Post Office, Neerim Memorial Hall and the Warragul Business Group are the latest community groups in Baw Baw Shire to benefit from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s community facility fund.

LVA chief executive officer Karen Cain said the three projects being funded would help bring visitors to the region and encourage use of local community facilities.

The Old Walhalla Post Office has received $30,900 to construct a new veranda on the heritage building, which will be built to the specifications of the original version which was removed in 1948.

Neerim Memorial Hall will spend $18,525 upgrading their toilet facilities, to enable it to host more weddings and social events and be used more frequently as a community gathering space. The LVA also will give $5000 to the Warragul Business Group’s SnowFest winter festival.

Ms Cain said almost $140,000 had now been injected into Baw Baw Shire community projects through the LVA community facility fund.

The Walhalla Museum and Research Centre and Warragul Gymnastics received project funding earlier this year.

The fund supports community-led initiatives and projects that help make the region a great place to live and work.

“I encourage local community groups to call our grants manager today to discuss their projects,” said Ms Cain.
