Drones seeding our future
Did you know if you fly a drone or a remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) commercially in Australia, outside the excluded category, you need to be licensed by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)?
So, how do you get a Remote Pilot Licence?
You need to undertake a course with a CASA approved RPAS Training Provider covering both theory and practical components.
This training is now provided by The Institute for Drone Technology through the Centre of Drone Excellence at Lardner Park.
Using the recently revamped CASA endorsed guidelines and syllabus, completion of this course will provide a vast array of career opportunities for graduates across a variety of industry sectors, increase flying skills and knowledge for those already using a drone, and (with a Remote Operator’s Certificate) bring drone operational use inside your organisation rather than via third party engagement.
Drones are an integral part of the future and are delivering enormously positive impacts to farmers and agribusiness operators, emergency service personnel, trades and construction industries, to name a few.
The emerging market for business services using drones is valued at over US$127 billion as projected by PricewaterhouseCoo pers so for those who are budding entrepreneurs, owning and operating a drone has the potential to become a lucrative business opportunity just waiting to be exploited.
Lardner Park and The Institute of Drone Technology established the Centre of Drone Excellence (CoDE), the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region.
The CoDE will become home to all things drone including education and training, drone camps for teens, business to business opportunities, established hubs of drone related development and R&D, and a centralised focal point for drone knowledge management.
