Artists vital to show success

-

Warragul Rotary Club members have very much been the mainstays for organising the art show over the last 40 years.

However, broader community input to the organisation and running of the event is being seen these days.

Over recent years, Baw Baw Arts Alliance has played an important role in the staging the event. A number of local artists are on the organising committee, bringing the artists’ perspective on what makes for a successful art show.

These artists play a vital role in areas such as the selection of the art show judge, promotion of the art show to participating artists and general publicity for the event. Setting up the art show takes a lot of time and members of the Baw Baw Art Alliance help with the hanging the art work and bring an artist’s eye on painting placement.

Once again, Warragul Regional College students will help to set up and pack up the art show stands as part of a community support project.

Underpinning the fundraising success of the art show are the sponsors.

It is through the support of over 90 local businesses each year that the Warragul Rotary Club is able to put surplus funds back into a range of projects in our local community.
