$715,000 contract to reseal bitumen roads
Almost 34 kilometres of bitumen roads will be resealed in a $715,000 contract awarded by Baw Baw Shire.
Fulton Hogan Industries was awarded the contract to undertake bitumen reseals on failed pavements across the shire.
Council allocated $1.17 million in its budget for the works.
The budget also included $100,000 to be spent on asphalt works in Mason St, Warragul for resurfacing between the new roundabouts.
The $356,000 unspent funds will be used as appropriate for the annual road resealing program.
Council identified 15 roads in the shire for resealing. The longest sections include 7.3 kilometres of Buln Buln Rd at Drouin; 5.2 kilometres of Nilma-Shady Creek Rd at Nilma; and 4.3 kilometres of Invermay Rd East at Hallora.
Other roads listed in the contract include Copelands Rd, Warragul; Coster Rd, Modella; Earls Rd, Yarragon; Gordons Rd, Yarragon; Invermay Rd West, Hallora; Longwarry Rd, Drouin; McDonalds Trk, Thorpdale; McKindlay St, Drouin; Patison Crt, Drouin; Smethurst St, Drouin; Wellington St, Trafalgar; and, Williamsons Rd, Yarragon.
“Tendered pavement repair works will result in a decrease in routine maintenance demand for the listed roads,” the report said.
