Liquor licence issued

-

Baw Baw Shire Council has issued a planning permit for a liquor licence at Fozigobble.

A report to council said the premises had been a licenced venue in the past.

The licensed area will include the interior of the café, outdoor garden area, outdoor paved area and verandah areas.

The site can accommodate 75 people at any one time.

Officers said the proposed licensed trading hours of 7am to midnight for Sundays were unreasonable given the site’s close proximity to residential houses.

“The amenity of the surrounding area may be affected by noise generated by the licensed trading hours and patrons,” the report said.

Planning permit conditions set our licensed trading hours:

Sunday between 8am and midnight for indoor areas and 9am and 11pm for outdoor areas; Anzac day will be midday to 11pm for all areas; and all other days will be 7am to midnight for indoor areas and 7am and 11pm for outdoor.

Officers said the proposal would facilitate economic development in the area.

Cr Michael Leaney said while the café was located in a commercial zone, there was a resident on an adjoining lot.

He said this would be a positive outcome for the business and the town.
